Chief Willis O. Evans, passed away, May 18th, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving wife, Jannie Davis Evans and family. Born in Raleigh, North Carolina and was affiliated with the fellowship, worship services, ministry and friends at Langley Protestant Chapel, Hampton, VA and Pleasant Union Christian Church, Raleigh, NC.
Chief Evans was an active board member for Project 1619, a life member of DAV, and a member of the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society. He enjoyed helping others explore their family history. Chief Evans is survived by a loving wife, children, grandchildren, siblings and host of family and friends.
Viewing: 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Thursday, May 23, 2019 with a wake service from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cooke Brothers Funeral Chapel, Hampton, VA.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Lea Funeral Home Chapel, 2500 Poole Road, Raleigh, NC.
Visitation: 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM, preceding the funeral service at the chapel.
Interment: Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh, NC.
