Obituary

William Larry Flowers peacefully departed this life at his home in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was born in Teachey, North Carolina (little Maple Hill) to the parents of the late William Henry (Shoat) and Catherine Vernell (Nell) Flowers on February 9, 1950. Larry is a member of Adoram Baptist Church in Wallace, N.C. where he has life-long, beloved friends. He graduated from Charity High School in Duplin County. After graduation, Larry honorable served in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne Division and spent a tour in Vietnam. To his family and friends, Larry was a loving free spirit who simply embraced life as it was, and opened his heart unconditionally to everyone he met. Following his army service he ventured to Brooklyn, New York and lived close to sisters Joyce (dec), Bessie and Ada for most of his adult life while working in a family furniture distribution company. Many years later he returned to his hometown of Teachey, NC and partnered with his father, William Sr. and his sister Louise(dec) in a home improvement business. After the dissolution of that business, Larry joined his ‘buddy’ siblings Bessie, Patricia(dec), and Michael in Raleigh, NC (& Chapel Hill) where he continued to hone his skills as a master tradesman in all aspects of home and commercial renovations. “Folks came to know him as a versatile Mr. Fix-It whom they could call on to build and repair anything.” We will miss ‘our Larry’, a quiet soothing soul. God called him home but his ‘feel good presence’ will be in our hearts, forever. With much love, the family would like to thank everyone for all your prayers, thoughts, and deeds at this time.

Due to the pandemic, the family will not have a public viewing or gathering - “walk by faith and always be safe”.
