It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Sumitraben Patel, on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Sumitraben passed away surrounded by her husband, Ishvarbhai “Bachu” Patel; her sons, Girish and Jayesh; her daughter, Jyoti; and her grandchildren, Pritesh, Jayna, Jiten, and Anjali. Her extended family swiftly came to her side, offering love and support in their grief, remaining united in her memory.
Sumitraben was a force to be reckoned with—fiercely independent, intelligent, adaptable, and endlessly warm. She dedicated her life to creating a supportive and encouraging environment for her children and grandchildren, instilling in them the values of kindness, perseverance, and generosity. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—solving sudoku puzzles, watching Indian soap operas, and spending time with her husband.
An unpretentious and resilient woman, Sumitraben met people with grace, understanding, and an open heart. She embraced new challenges with tenacity, always willing to learn and grow. She especially cherished children and found immense joy in playing with her grandchildren —Liam, Gavin, Logan, and Samay—at every opportunity.
Sumitraben was blessed with many siblings, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond. Family was at the core of everything she did, and while she remained deeply connected to her roots, she also embraced life’s changes with strength and grace.
Her passing leaves an irreplaceable void, but her spirit, wisdom, and love will continue to guide and inspire all who knew her.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Sumitraben’s life will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Malala Fund in her memory.
May she rest in peace, forever cherished in our hearts.
