Rose’s legacy of love is carried forward by her children, Dennis Closs (Linda), Christopher Closs, and Darryl Closs; her cherished grandson, Darryl Stanford; and her two beloved great-grandchildren, Bryson and Kennedy Stanford. She is also survived by her sister, Christine Baxter Jones, and her three sisters-in-law: Carolyn Myrick, Nannie Ruth Jones, and Lucy Baxter. In 1961, Rose moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, where she and her family became devoted members of Baptist Grove Church. For over six decades, she served her church with unwavering dedication, singing in the Senior Choir, serving on the Usher Board, and holding the roles of Deaconess and church secretary. Her faith and love for her church community were central to her life, and she was a source of joy, comfort, and inspiration to all who knew her.
Rose was a proud graduate of Durham Business College, and she went on to dedicate 15 years of her professional life to Burlington Industries, followed by 15 years with the Girl Scout Council. She continued her commitment to service by devoting 15 more years to Baptist Grove Church, where her presence and leadership left a lasting impact. Rose was also an active member of the National Council of Negro Women, where she focused on empowering and uplifting women.
One of Rose’s greatest passions was cooking, and her kitchen was always filled with warmth, love, and the delicious meals she lovingly prepared.
