Nathaniel Luford Hines

Mr. Nathaniel Luford Hines (affectionally known as Nat), was born on September 28, 1920 in Bladenboro, North Carolina to the late Cicero and Amanda Monroe-Hines. Also preceding him in death were his wives, Lottie Odell Hines and Ivory Jean Hines; Daughters, Clemanthe Rita (Lynwood) Parker, and Angela (Gilbert Sr.) Brooks; and Grandson, Stephen (Deidre) Hines I.  Nat transitioned peacefully from his earthly life on Thursday, November 7, at Kingswood Reserve Luxury Senior Living in Clayton, NC., surrounded by loved ones.  

Nat was well loved by family and friends, and will be deeply missed in the lives and hearts of those he touched.  He leaves to cherish his precious memories; his Grandchildren, all of Raleigh, NC.; Gilbert Brooks Jr. (Keitia), Nicole Hicks (Edward), and Keia Parker; Great-Grandchildren, Demika Sams, Stephen Hines II, Brittani Hines, Joshua Brooks, Indya (Uchenna) Nwokorie, Imanuel Brooks, Edwinna Hicks, Edward (Melanie) Hicks Jr., Bryce Joseph, and Ian Hicks.  Great-Great Grandchildren, Thomas Sams, Denim Sams, Emery Hines, Brook Brown, Hart Upchurch, Yoma Hicks, Kao Alicea, Yuri Nwokorie, Indigo Hicks, and Yohanna Nwokorie; special niece and surrogate granddaughter, Christi Shaw; special nephew, Vernon Shaw, Stepsons; Ronnie Chamblee, of Atlanta and Kenneth Chamblee, of Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Family will receive visitors at the home of Gilbert & Keitia Brooks, 1608 Brierley Hill Court, Raleigh, NC. beginning Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 3:00pm – 8:00pm.

Public Viewing:  1:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Friday, November 22, 2024, at Lea Funeral Home, 2500 Poole Road, Raleigh, NC.                           

Funeral Service:  2:00 PM, Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Rush Metropolitan AME Zion Church, 558 East Cabarrus Street, Raleigh, NC.

Visitation:  1:00 PM - 2:00 PM, preceding the funeral service at the church.

Interment: 12:00 PM, Monday, November 25, 2024, at Faulk Cemetery, Bladenboro, NC.
