Nancy Scott Archible

Nancy “Red Gal” Scott Archible, daughter of the late Reuben and Novella “Tea” Scott-Evans was born on August 26, 1941 in Wake County, North Carolina. She transitioned this life into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 25, 2021. 

Nancy was educated in the Wake County Public School System and worked as a housekeeper and caring for children. 

Nancy enjoyed attending Joy and Deliverance Christian Church whenever she could. Many times, her cousin Randolph Scott came to pick her and her husband Moses up for church. She always covered her children in prayer and asked the church to do the same, including her entire family. She was a believer and received Jesus into her life as Lord and Savior. She delighted in hearing the choir sing songs of celebration and praise. Nancy would smile, clap her hands and say: “It is good to be in church, thank You Jesus!” Some of her favorite songs and hymnals were: “Jesus Loves Me”, “At the Cross”, “Blessed Assurance”, and “Lord, Hold my Hand”. 

Nancy was an exceptional cook, home decorator, entertainer and enjoyed helping people. She was a good-hearted person who shared the truth, not just saying what you wanted to hear. She was a blessing to all and loved her family deeply. She was caring and sharing, a fun person to be around; she always kept you laughing. 

When she cooked, there was always plenty to go around; it was a feast and everyone was welcomed. 

Nancy found great joy in cooking and having all of her family and friends over to share in the delicious meals she prepared. Nancy’s home became the family’s home front after the passing of her mother. 

On weekends, she enjoyed watching sports and playing games that brought everyone together. She loved hosting gatherings and she was always dressed to impress. 

Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Moses Archible Sr.; daughter, Annette McLeod both of Raleigh, NC; son, Thadis Alphonso McLeod (Deloris) of Charlotte, NC; stepdaughter, Shanell S. Holloway of Raleigh, NC; stepson Moses Archible Jr. of Raleigh NC. 

Twin sister, Nina Glover of Lawnside, NJ; sisters, Sallie Horne of Durham, NC; Esther Curtis of Butner, NC; Lillie Burrell, Ruben, “Ruby” Wiggins, Elnora Thomlinson (Bobby) all of Raleigh, NC; Eva Owens and Barbara Grubbs both of Charlotte, NC. 

Brothers, John Evans (Lois) of Garner, NC; Donnell Evans, Connell Evans, Donald Evans Sr. (Debra), Ronald Evans Sr. (Pamela), all of Raleigh, NC. 

Grandchildren, Tara McLeod, Jamaal McLeod, Ronisha Dillon (Kadeem), Devon Alphonso McLeod, Asia Cheyenne McLeod. 

Great grandchildren, Joshua McLeod and Zoey Burris. Aunts Christine Scott of Raleigh, NC and Doris Scott of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

Nancy was preceded in death by her sisters: Elizabeth Evans, Mary Ann Daniels, Inez Chavis, June Taylor and Doris Rodriguez; Brothers: Clifton Evans, James Evans and Rufus Evans.

Yet in all these things, we are more than conquerors and gain an overwhelming victory through Him who loved us so much that He died for us. For I am convinced and continue to be convinced-beyond any doubt that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present and threatening, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, not depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the unlimited love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
