Millicent was born on November 20th, 1945 to Quashi and Patience Boutchway in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Millie was the middle child and the only girl. Millie had a twin brother who died shortly after birth.
She was educated at the Lumley Municipal Primary School and Freetown Secondary School for Girls in Sierra Leone. After high school, she met and got engaged to the love of her life, Dr. Prince Shyllon. Millie and Prince traveled to the United States to pursue higher education.
After coming to the United States, Millie and Prince settled in Raleigh North Carolina, where they were married. Millie attended and graduated from Saint Augustine’s College with a Bachelor’s Degree in English. She went on to work as a Supervisor of Medical Records for Wake County Mental Health. Millie took an early retirement to pursue a personal business venture. Millie and Prince built and ran Primrose Villa, a beautiful assisted living community in Angier, North Carolina. Primrose Villa thrived for more than 17 years.
Millie was a dedicated member of Western Boulevard Presbyterian Church, where she served as part of the People’s Warden. Her love for people was palpable. Mille served as Vice president of the Krio Descendent Union; Treasurer for the NC Mother’s Union and Trustee/treasurer for her alma mater, the Freetown Secondary school for Girls in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Ms. Millie was also a member of SLAITA and SLOU in Washington, DC. Apart from her love to serve, Millie also had a passion for cooking, decorating, and shopping. Her favorite thing was to feed people!
She will be remembered for her patience, tenacity, and dedication to family, church, and community. Those who encountered Millie will testify to the fact that she lived her mantra, “Let the work I’ve done speak for me.” She was preceeded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, her parents Mr. & Mrs. Boutchway, and brothers, Quashi and Billy.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Western Boulevard Presbyterian Church, 4900 Kaplan Drive, Raleigh, NC.
Visitation: 10:00 AM - 11:00, preceding the service at the Church.
Entombment: Carolina Biblical Gardens, Garner, NC.
