Maggie Ruth Thorb

“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away”   Revelation 21:4

Mrs. Maggie Ruth Thorb, the beloved daughter of the late Lonnie David and Primmie Murray Sloan, was born February 19, 1921 in Duplin County, North Carolina. After a brief illness, she peacefully fell on eternal slumber and quietly departed this life Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Duke-Raleigh Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina.

She received her education in the Duplin County Public School System. At an early age, she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and became a member of First Baptist Church in Keanansville, North Carolina. After moving to Knightdale, North Carolina she faithfully attended Deliverance Holiness Church of Raleigh, North Carolina where her youngest daughter Primmie Whitaker is the Pastor.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Leroy Thorb, Their union was blessed with the rearing of twelve children. Seven of the children, David Sloan, Willie Thorb, Lucille Forbes, Roy Thorb, James Thorb, Johnny Thorb and Alexander Thorb preceded her in death.

Mrs. Thorb, with her kind generous spirit and pleasant personality was loved by many. Her soul was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well. Her endearing memory will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. 

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of  her children: Rosa Lee (Thomas) Rich of Raleigh, North Carolina, Maggielene (Purvis) Gillis of Raleigh, North Carolina, Sarah Ellen Wyche of Knightdale, North Carolina, Earnest Ray (Debra) Thorb of Raleigh, North Carolina and Primmie Delores Whitaker of Warsaw, North Carolina, daughters-in-law Jacqueline Thorb of Raleigh, North Carolina, Linda Thorb of Raleigh, North Carolina and Nora Thorb of Warsaw, North Carolina; twenty-eight grandchildren, fifty-four great grandchildren; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Graveside Service:  2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Carolina Biblical Gardens, 1530 Creech Road, Garner, NC.
