Magesh Sundaram

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Magesh Sundaram of Cary, North Carolina, on June 18, 2026, at the age of 50. He leaves behind a family and a circle of friends whose lives were made brighter simply by knowing him.

Magesh's life was defined by an easy warmth, a love for the people around him, and a humility that never wavered, no matter how far he traveled. He was born in Tamil Nadu, India, to ShanmugaSundaram and Bhanumathi, who raised him with the quiet strength and kindness that would come to shape the man he became. He went on to earn his master’s degree in chemical engineering and built a distinguished career, ultimately serving as a Director at Dober Chemicals. Yet for all he accomplished, anyone who knew Magesh will tell you that his truest success was simply the kind of person he was.

Easygoing, lively, and endlessly down-to-earth, Magesh had a gift for making people feel at ease. He moved through life without pretension—always humble, and always the first to offer a hand to anyone in need. His laughter and energy filled every room he entered, and those who loved him will remember a man who gave generously of his time, his kindness, and his heart.

Magesh loved sports and games in all their forms. He enjoyed playing cricket, chess, and carrom, and took genuine delight in following and analyzing Formula 1, MotoGP, and soccer. He had an equal passion for good food, savoring every bite as though tasting it for the first time. From the roadside chaat and samosas he loved on long evenings to the simplest meal at home, Magesh believed—in sport, at the table, and in life itself—that the joy lay in paying full attention. He tasted everything fully, and he encouraged everyone around him to do the same.

Above all, Magesh cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lavanya, and their two daughters, Ananya and Charu, who were the center of his world. He is also survived by his sister, Madhu Priya; his parents, ShanmugaSundaram and Bhanumathi; and a wide, loving family and community of friends—all of whom will miss him more than words can express.

Some of the fondest memories of him are the smallest ones: sharing chaat and samosas as the evening cooled, and the nightly sprint to the local train station to watch the trains roll by before bed—the kind of simple, joyful rituals that told you everything about how Magesh loved the world and the people he shared it with.

A Celebration of Magesh's Life will be held on June 25, 2026, at Lea Funeral Home (2500 Poole Rd, Raleigh, NC 27610) from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM.

Magesh will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His family and friends will forever treasure the warmth, the laughter, and the love he shared so freely throughout his life. He lived with an open heart and a generous spirit, and that is how he will be remembered—and dearly, dearly missed.
