“A Life Well Lived"
Maeonie Scott Jones
Our hearts are broken with the passing of Maeonie Scott Jones at the age of 101 years old, most recently resided in McKinney, Texas with her son and daughter-in-law, John and Sandy Jones. As a strong, feisty, adorable and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, dedicated her life to helping everyone she new and serving God always. Born April 8, 1925, in Raleigh, North Carolina, she was the beloved daughter of the late Nathaniel “Doc” Scott and Lilly Rogers Scott. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Israel Jones and her grandson, John Brandon Ashley Jones.
Maeonie Jones is survived by her two sons, John Jason Jones (Wife Sandra Shryl Jones) and Willie Nathaniel Jones (Wife Sylvia Bonita Jones), her grandson, Jason Fontaine Burton, her granddaughter, Courtney Lauren Marshall, her “daughter-like” niece, Norma Jean Griffin, her “son-like” nephew, Jerry Maurice Leathers, her sister Grethel Odessa Leathers, great-grandsons, great-granddaughters, a great-great grandson and a great-great granddaughter, many nieces and nephews and cousins and very close friends.
Her legacy of love, strength, quick-wit, caring, teaching and loving God will forever remain in the hearts and minds of everyone who knew her or ever became acquainted with her. She never knew a stranger. Her hugs, kisses and love will sustain eternity.
My mom loved her church home family at Pleasant Union Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, and to honor her name and many contributions she made towards her missionary work, our family asks that you make your contribution payable to Pleasant Union Christian Church in her name. You can proceed to the church’s website with instructions on how to pay at www.pleasantunioncc.com.
