A soul returning home

The Bhagavad Gita reminds us:

“The soul is neither born, nor does it ever die; nor having once existed, does it ever cease to be. The soul is without birth, eternal, immortal, and ageless. It is not destroyed when the body is destroyed.” (Chapter 2)

Hemangini Patel, lovingly known by all as Hema Sundari Devidasi, transitioned to the spiritual world on December 23rd, 2025. For decades, she rose before dawn or stayed awake through the night so others could heal, be it in her career or her personal life.

She understood the truth above not only in philosophy, but in the way she lived. She was never attached to praise or position. She carried responsibility with humility, love with steadiness, and faith without spectacle. She knew, deep within, that she was not this temporary body, but an eternal servant of Krishna, simply passing through.

And in every role she held, be it as a daughter, wife, mother, friend, teacher, healer, she carried the same essence: sincerity. She showed us that devotion is not always loud. Sometimes it is found in showing up day after day, in doing one’s duty with care, in offering one’s life quietly to God.

Hema Sundari Mataji saw Krishna everywhere: in her family, in her work, in the people she served, and in the trials she endured without complaint. Her life was shaped by remembrance. Her heart was oriented toward Him long before her final breath.

And when her body grew tired, when this chapter closed, she did not leave. She returned home to Krishna.

Without fear. Without resistance. Without unfinished business in her heart.

Her soul has not disappeared. It has been received.

If Goloka is a place where love is pure, service is joy, and Krishna is everything, then she is home.

Her life remains with us in the values she lived by, the discipline she modeled, the love she poured into her family, and the devotion she carried so quietly that the world barely noticed its depth. May we all live a life worth living the way she has fulfilled our dharma in every way possible.

May her journey be complete.
May her remembrance be our shelter.
May her devotion serve as inspiration and continue to move through us softly, steadily, eternally.

We hope you will join us for a celebration of her life, of her going home to God & to honor the legacy she leaves behind: a life of quiet strength, steady devotion, and selfless service. She is survived by her husband, Ashvinbhai Patel, her two daughters, Shivali and Shymanandini as well as her mother, Ramanben Patel and three siblings.
