Obituary

Frederick was commissioned in the United States Army as a 2nd Lieutenant thru the SCSU ROTC program. Almost half of his 22 years of service was as a Signal Corp Officer. He served in several overseas Commands. Following Completion of the Signal Officer Basic Course and Signal Maintenance Course, he completed Airborne School. Frederick then embarked on his first tour in Vietnam. Upon his return he was assigned to Fort Bragg in Fayetteville North Carolina.

LTC Warsaw attended the Signal Officer Advanced Course at Fort Monmouth New Jersey in 1969. One year to the day following his return he was reassigned to Vietnam as an advisor to the Vietnamese. Following his return he was reassigned to the Tropic Test Center at Fort Clayton in the Republic of Panama. He was one of 2 black officers in the Tropic Test Center. Which at the time made for an interesting assignment. Enjoying Travel he was assigned to the 3rd Infantry division in Schweinfurt Germany. After serving in the tropics, Germany was a rude awakening. The cold weather and the border being heavily controlled between East and West Berlin.

On his return from Germany he was assigned to Fort Gordon in Augusta Georgia. From 1986-1988 he served as Chief of Command in the Logistics Center Fort Lee Virginia. He Retired from the Army in May 1988 when his wife Janette of 55 years became a mobile Nurse Administrator for the Veterans Administration. He has two children, a daughter Natasha (Education Consultant) and a Son Eric (United Airlines Pilot) throughout his life, after God, Frederick put his family first. His love for, and devotion to Janette, Eric, and Natasha was evident in everything that he did, and every decision that he made.Everything he did, from being a husband and father, to serving in the US military, he did with excellence.

Frederick departed this life on Friday February 27th 2026. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Janette Ernestine Warsaw. His sister Mattie Lee Evans. His brothers Hazel Lonnie Warsaw and Henry (Bubba) Warsaw. He leaves to mourn his passing his Daughter Natasha and his son Eric. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Louise Capers, Marjorie Wingate (Dr James Wingate) Betty Jean Warsaw, his brother Joel Dargan (Nancy) a wide host of nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family, We are proud and very thankful to you all, Memorial Service: 11:00 AM, Friday, March 20, 2026, at St. Joseph AME Church, 2521 Fayetteville Street, Durham, NC.
