With deep love and gratitude, we join together to celebrate the legacy of Ms. Elizabeth Ada James Seabrook, who peacefully departed this life at the age of 93. Ms. Seabrook was born in New York City, but as a young child, she relocated with her mother, Sarah Seabrook James, and her older siblings to Charleston, SC. After the untimely death of her mother, Ms. Seabrook lived with her grandparents, Elijah and Florence Seabrook, and attended the Charleston Public School System in the mid-1940s. After the birth of her first child, Ms. Seabrook returned to New York City, where she lived in The Bronx and raised her family. A dedicated and hardworking servant, Ms. Seabrook held several positions throughout her life. In Charleston, SC, she worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Harry Needle’s dental practice and as a waitress at the Citadel Military Academy of South Carolina. During the 1970s in New York, Ms. Seabrook worked as a nurse's aide at Prospect Hospital while also working as a dietary nutrition worker for the New York City Public School System. In 1990, Ms. Seabrook retired with 17 years of service from the New York City Public School System. Throughout her life, Ms. Seabrook continuously volunteered with numerous schools, churches, and community organizations. Ms. Seabrook possessed a deep and unwavering love for Jesus Christ, which guided her through every season of her life.
Faithful and resilient in prayer, she trusted God in all things and found strength, peace, and hope in His presence. With a servant’s heart and love of Jesus Christ, Ms. Seabrook selflessly helped those in need. At the time of her transition, Ms. Seabrook was a member of Grace Lutheran Church located in Raleigh, NC. Ms. Seabrook loved traveling, visiting family and friends, crafting, and movie dates with her ladies group, The Classy Sassy Girls. She also expressed her love through pictures, letters, and cards, leaving her family thousands of heartfelt memories to treasure. Ms. Seabrook, affectionately known by her family and friends as “Sister,” was preceded in death by her parents, Norman James, Sr. and Sarah Seabrook James and her siblings, Thelma McKellon Wrighten, and Norman James, Jr. Ms. Seabrook leaves to cherish her memory eight children and their spouses: Bernadette and the late Howard Ronald Crockett, Jr., Valerie Seabrook Heard, Norman and Susan Seabrook, Herbert and Susan Seabrook, Richard and Lynne Seabrook, John Seabrook, Bernard and Sandra Seabrook, and Reginald and Chaiyanun Seabrook, along with a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great grand-children; godchildren; cousins; extended family members; and friends. Above all, the life of Ms. Elizabeth Seabrook will remain a testimony to the glory of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her life testifies that He indeed kept His promise to never leave or forsake her, and according to Psalm 91, ...” with long life satisfy [her] and show [her] His salvation.”
