Mr. Edward “Ed” Lee Graham, affectionately known as “Bibby,” was born on January 17th, 1947, to the late Sherwood and Mamie Evans Graham in Raleigh, North Carolina. He transitioned from labor to reward on Monday, May 12, 2025, in his home in Garner, North Carolina.
Edward committed to Christ early in life at Boylan Chapel A.M.E Zion Church in Raleigh, NC and later joined Grace A.M.E Zion Church in Raleigh, NC led by Rev. L. P. Perry.
Edward completed his education within the Wake County School System, graduating from Lockhart High School in Knightdale, North Carolina, with the class of 1965. He was a bus driver for Wake County, which led him to being a United States Postal Service mail truck driver which he loved. He dedicated 46 years of service to the USPS, during which he received various awards and recognition during his tenure upon his retirement. He was inducted into the USPS One Million Mile Club for attaining one million miles or 30 years of safe driving without a preventable incident.
Edward formed meaningful connections wherever he traveled and was recognized within the community for consistently helping those in need. His home served as a central location for family and friend gatherings where fond memories were shared with the man often referred to as “Smooth” due to his charming personality. Edward always found the time to cook up a fresh batch of fried fish, where countless people in the community enjoyed at the #1 cookout spot. To those who knew him he was a die-hard University of North Carolina Tarheel fan who painted anything Carolina Blue.
He was a devoted son, daddy, papa, brother, uncle, and friend. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Felicia “Chubby” Graham and one granddaughter Christine Montgomery. His memory and legacy will be cherished by the generations that remain. He is survived by one daughter, Alicia Graham of Garner, NC; one son, Thomas A. Holdman (Cheryl) of Raleigh, NC; two sisters, Mary Graham Greene of Raleigh, NC and Mamie Graham Hinton of Four Oaks, NC; two brothers, Earl (Early) Graham (Barbara) of Youngsville, NC and Maynard Graham of Willow Springs, NC; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and cherished friends.
Public Viewing: 12:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Lea Funeral Home, 2500 Poole Road, Raleigh, NC.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Lea Funeral Home Chapel, 2500 Poole Road, Raleigh, NC.
Visitation: 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM, preceding the service in the chapel.
Interment: Mt. Hope Cemetery, 120 Prospect Avenue, Raleigh, NC.
