Chester Jenkins Jr., 81, of Raleigh, NC peacefully transitioned from this life on February 24, 2026. Born on November 9, 1944, in Wilmington, NC Chester lived a life rooted in faith, family, service, and excellence.
He was the beloved son of the late Bettie Jenkins and Chester Jenkins Sr. He was also preceded in death by his son,Kevin Jenkins;brothers, Woodrow Jenkins, Samuel Jenkins, and Albert Jenkins.
Chester leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife, Edna Jenkins; his son, Keith (Nia) Jenkins; his stepson, Brian (Diane) Parker. His sister his sister, Yvonne Davis (James); seven cherished grandchildren; three treasured great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, fraternity brothers, and dear friends.
A proud graduate of Williston High School, Chester went on to earn his Master’s Degree in Engineering from AT University in North Carolina. He built a distinguished career with the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, where he faithfully served until his retirement.
Chester was a proud Army veteran who honorably served his country. Above all, he loved God and was deeply devoted to his church. His faith guided his life, and he found great joy in worship, fellowship, and serving within his church community.
He was a distinguished member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and faithfully attended annual homecomings, valuing the lifelong bonds of brotherhood. Chester also enjoyed traveling, fixing things with his skilled hands, and sharing laughter with those around him. Known for his quick wit and warm spirit, he always had something funny to say to brighten someone’s day.
Chester Jenkins Jr. will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, and friend. His legacy of faith, strength, love, and laughter will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Public Viewing: 12:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Friday, March 6, 2026 at Lea Funeral Home, 2500 Poole Road.
Funeral Service: 12:00 PM, Saturday, March 7, 2026, St. Matthew AME Church, 1629 Bennett Street, Raleigh, NC.
Visitation: 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM, preceding the funeral service at the church.
Interment: Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Goldsboro, NC.
