Charles “Chuckie” or “Chuck” Davis of Raleigh, NC, gained his heavenly wings on Wednesday, March 15, after a short illness.

Chuck was born on January 10, 1969 in Madison, WV to the union of Linda Anthony Davis and Charles Reginald Davis.

He grew up on the west side of Charleston WV where he was educated and enjoyed sports in his youth; football, basketball and track. Chuck was often coached by his step-father, Paul Gilmer Jr. since he was 5 years old. He accepted Christ at an early age, and was baptized by his grandfather Rev. Dr. Paul J. Gilmer.

Charles graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School and attended West Virginia State University part-time while working in retail sales. Since then, he has accomplished a Bachelor of Business Administration - Minor in Marketing at Strayer University in September 2006 and continued his education and received a Master of Business Administration in September 2009. He was working on a doctorate degree since December 2009 with Walden University (Doctor of Philosophy Public Policy and Administration - Specialization in Health Services) but was unable to complete due to health problems.

In 2016, Charles wrote and published a book “Win First, Celebrate Second” and in 2017 won an Indie Author Legacy Award, Author of the Year Personal Development Honoring Modern Impact-Centered Writers, sponsored by Black Enterprise magazine.

In July 2003, Chuck completed his family when he married Andrea Denise Hayes.  She motivated Charles to pursue completion of his education and encouraged him to write his Award winning book. In May of 2010 his family was made complete when they welcomed their daughter Allyson Christine Yolanda Davis.

Chuck loved his family,  travel, sports (especially the New Orleans Saints) and spending time with friends. Anyone who knew him described him as “a great guy.”

He was preceded in death by his biological father Charles Reginald Davis and his step-father Paul Gilmer Jr. and his grandparents: John and Dorothy Anthony; Rev. John and Frances Davis and Rev. Dr. Paul and Anna Evans Gilmer.

He leaves to cherish his memory and continue his legacy;  his loving wife Andrea Davis, PhD, daughter- Allyson Davis, mother Linda Davis Gilmer, Brothers Ryan Davis, Shawn Davis (Julie), Anthony Gilmer (Jorgie), and sisters Batese Gilmer and Melissa Gilmer-Scott, MD (Walter). Several nieces and nephews- Keshawna Arrollado (Michael), Trevor Davis, Solomon Glover, Audrey Scott, Eric Scott and great nephews Michael and Leano Arrollado. And let’s not forget the host of Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends, all of whom were very special to him.
