Senator Vernon Malone, 2124 Lyndhurst Drive, Raleigh, passed on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at his home. Following are the service arrangements:

PUBLIC VIEWING:

Public viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 22, from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM at Lea Funeral Home, 2500 Poole Road, Raleigh, NC 27610.

LYING IN REPOSE:

The body of Senator Malone will lie in repose at Martin Street Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 22, beginning at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. During this time, the Malone family will receive visitors and friends.

FUNERAL SERVICE:

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 23 at 12:00 PM at Martin Street Baptist Church, 1001 E. Martin Street, Raleigh, NC.

INTERMENT:

Interment will take place immediately following the service at Carolina Biblical Gardens, 1530 Creech Road, Garner, NC.

Senator Malone is survived by his two sons, Vernon Roderick (Sandra) Malone, and Barry Fitzgerald (Elizabeth) Malone, both of Raleigh, and his daughter, Susan LaVerne (Andrew) Battle of Clayton. He is also survived by his sister, Bessye Burwell of Raleigh, and three grandchildren, Jonathan, Sydney, and Susan Battle of Clayton.
